Cuppa Tipple

Tally Ho Quiz Nights

Are you going to the Tally Ho Quiz Nights…Cuppa Tipple sharer boards arriving for the evening. I don’t have a brain, or brawn, only the boards 🤣🤣🤣 to hopefully help the grey matter 🤞

How did Cuppa Tipple come about ?

Deborah loves a ‘tipple’ in her coffee, especially when watching grandchildren play Rugby or Football in the cold wet weather! Friends and family have always laughed at the idea and say that its surely her way of having a sneaky drink! It made her more curious about why people, historically, drank alcohol out of teacups, especially Gin – was it to have that sneaky drink of mother’s ruin?

What about the trailer? Deborah had the horse trailer for several years and not used it, was about to sell it, when a great friend asked her to consider converting it into a gin bar, he was a very creative & persuasive chap: and so, they did!

Vine Pianos is Deborah’s passion, she believes that music, events, parties with drinks go hand in hand.

Now retired (yep…) from the other big job, decided to have some fun and share the fun!

Why Teacups?

Prohibition: alcohol being served in teacups, with bottles of alcohol being carried in brown paper bags, meant that alcohol was more difficult to detect.   It became an easy way of drinking alcohol during prohibition. People visited clothes and food shops to take a secret teacup of tipple.

Gin was the most popular spirit, in part because its potent juniper oils could help mask the foul taste of the diluted industrial alcohol that was so prevalent.   It was believed that banning alcohol – Prohibition – would make society healthier and happier.  It didn’t work out exactly as planned. Instead of making things better, it led to a rise in illegal speakeasies, where people secretly drank, and gangsters like Capone became big shots in the illegal drinking business.

NB: we are not Capone, we’re legal and prefer the vintage teacups.
